Tarot: Temperance

Combining Opposites, Universal Flow, Manifesting Dreams

The Temperance tarot card is about the alchemy of combining seemingly contradictory forces to create a whole new paradigm.

When you allow your soul inspirations to flow through this material realm – instead of resisting one or the other – your dreams become real. This is called being in flow with the universe.

We move forward by being still

We get closer by letting go

We create unity by respecting diversity

We discover freedom through limitation

Health and Body Image: It’s learning time. Seek out knowledge and information concerning any health issues then follow through with concrete action. Also, exercise moderation or restraint with a certain health protocol. You might also want to focus on allowing the energy of your spirit to flow through the heart chakra and solar plexus throughout the physical body for health, wellness and vitality.

Occupation and Finances: You might need further education to manifest your occupational goals, possibly through some type of correspondence learning. This card is a sign that your work will come to fruition, especially as you focus on reproducing in the material realm what you feel in your heart or see in your mind’s eye.

Relationships: Seek to communicate with another from your heart, or even better from your cosmic self. Take time to get to know someone and reflect on their qualities. You might also want to consider communication or correspondence with beings in higher realms.

Hidden Meaning: The separation of light and dark, spirit and matter, is an illusion. While each concept holds unique properties and plays specific roles, they intertwine in various degrees to produce diverse experiences and realities. If we were always in the oneness of perfect light, love and existence would be meaningless.

“There are opposites, but no opposition.” – Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Reversed: A reversed Temperance card might signify mixed messages, or clashing interests, a mismatched relationship, or disunion. Two people just can’t seem to blend or synthesize; therefore, this relationship isn’t worth your time or trouble. Or maybe something you’re attempting to do just isn’t going to work. There’s an energy block somewhere. Religiosity might keep inspiration blocked; as a result, we create something unintended or undesired. It could also be possible that impatience is keeping you from staying grounded, and actually accomplishing anything. Instead of trying to push things forward too fast, stay calm and avoid any extremes.

Advice: The life force energy of your spirit must flow through your physical life – not the other way around. This is how they synchronize. Seek to establish communication with your higher dimensional self, learn who that person is, then follow your soul inspirations with solid action. Then enjoy the fruit of your labors. Temperance is also a message to practice restraint, frugality or moderation. Manage your resources wisely.

Astrological Association: Saturn, Aquarius

Timing: “Major Arcanas mean that no timeframe is specified but instead the issue indicated by the card must first be resolved. Reversals should be noted, as with this system they represent obstacles that must be overcome before the event can occur.” – Barbara Moore

Yes or No: Maybe, with a warning
