Daily Magic: July 23, 2017 {On Respecting Our Whole Self}

We’re a little insecure and sensitive today, and prone to defensive outbursts as we move boldly into our life passion, quite likely before we feel ready.

Common socioreligious and psychotherapy advice tells us to deny the selfish ego, think of others, and compromise with others to promote harmony. But has that advice really helped us?

Yesterday, I received a friend request from a woman I didn’t know on Facebook. Like always, I checked her profile, noticed we had some things in common and took a risk by accepting her request. Also like always, I sent her a message kindly thanking her for her friend add.

She replied saying she didn’t add me and didn’t know me. I messaged back explaining that I received her request, I apologized for any inconvenience and told her I would undo the friend add. But that was unnecessary because she had already unfriended me.

Her replies after that to my respectful messages were rude, short, and tense. That’s understandable considering someone was messing with our accounts, but her treatment of me did not make me feel good. I immediately reminded myself of the insecure sensitivity of this New Moon’s aspects. But I’d like to come at this from a different angle.

I could disregard this situation by labeling it as a mere ego wound, or the personal issues of the other person which has nothing to do with us…. But that doesn’t make us feel better, nor does it allow us to use discernment in life decisions and relationships.

Call it oversensitivity, fear of intimacy, or a healthy self-respect…. What matters is acknowledging how we honestly feel. This person lost my trust with a few short messages. Recognizing this allows me to act accordingly {I blocked her} and refine what I need and want in a friendship.

Whether it’s an ego wound or not, standing by our honest feelings and true desires respects our most important relationship – the self – and respect naturally carries over to all our relationships.

If it doesn’t include self-love, then it isn’t love at all. I think this fundamental truth will guide us through the fiery, chaotic planetary aspects of this solar month much better than the “deny the ego” advice ever will.

May your life be infused with magic and may you truly enjoy your existence. With love, Elizabeth aka Intuitive Fish
