Tranquility, Emotional Calm, Healing

Amethyst derives its name from the Greek word amethystos which means not drunken. Some use it for breaking addictions to alcohol or other attachments and destructive habits, while motivating self-responsibility. The Greeks believed Amethyst could quickly clear alcohol from the bodily system.

But Amethyst is also known for alleviating stress, headaches, insomnia, as well as healing deep emotional traumas.

As a natural tranquilizer, it blocks stressful environmental energies, allowing your mind, body and spirit to heal.

It’s also used for karmic healing. Amethyst generates an energetic field that is tranquil, calming, and sacred. It’s a very spiritual stone, and promotes spirituality as a way of life – provoking love when harm is intended.

One way to use it is to massage your abdomen with an amethyst wand in order to alleviate emotional or digestive issues. Many use an Amethyst sphere for scrying. You can also place a raw stone or point on your Third Eye chakra while meditating.

Amethyst gets its beautiful color from its iron content as well as from natural radiation in the Earth. Purple stones are believed to be a balance of fire and water elements.
