Every sign in the zodiac represents an aspect of yourself, even if you don’t have any planets in that house. Understanding your zodiac sign at birth allows you to be more authentic. Understanding the zodiac sign of others expands your acceptance and celebration of diversity. This naturally creates a better world for us all.
Aquarius: Individuality, Friendships and Groups, Harmonizing Diversity
Evolved Traits: Capable of higher reasoning, brilliant, opportunistic, independent, unique, innovative, highly technical and modern, forward-thinking, revolutionary, progressive, humanitarian, philosophical, fluid, open-minded, persevering in the long haul
Challenging Traits: Selfish, insensitive, sadistically cruel, cold, distant, detached, out of touch with others, self-superior, showy, shallow, lacking substance, lacking true knowledge, obstinate, rebellious against any restraint, overly concerned with status
Meet Aquarius The Zodiac Sign
The most admirable trait of an evolved Aquarius might be their devotion to group dynamics and group work. This is akin to meritorious native peoples and aboriginals around the globe, and their fluid yet respectful relationship with the always-changing planet.
We’re not talking about cult-like behavior of the Capricornian status quo, institutional religions, political parties or official social organizations. That would bore avant-garde Aquarius right out of their minds. Instead, they value a healthy balance of diversity and harmony, since genuine relationships can work no other way.
Freedom and individuality are high on the list of priorities for Aquarius – whether it’s yours or theirs. Meanwhile, sentimentality is a concept they could do without. This is why they tend to be detached in personal or intimate relationships.
But if anyone’s going to shift the current paradigm, it will be Aquarius. They’re so clever and prone to a superiority complex, they generally get their way, for better or for worse. While this isn’t always an attractive quality, we’re inclined to revere, or at least envy this ability.
Exoterically, Aquarius is the most selfish of all the signs, and they lack depth of character.
Sure, they might appear to be sincerely concerned for social equity and welfare. They might know a little about various religions and philosophies…. But when it’s all added up, they don’t know very much at all. This is because their knowledge comes from the head, rather than the heart.
But, shhhh…. Don’t tell them that. It would only confound them anyway.
Sun In Aquarius
From January 20th to February 18th when the sun is in Aquarius, or when strategic planets are in Aquarius, whether in the sky or your birth chart, you might be inspired to detach from the mainstream, and develop a vision for the future. Original or innovative ideas might come to you more easily at this time.
Or maybe you’re overcome with an intense thirst for knowledge, especially if it involves high strangeness or something a little offbeat. Or perhaps you’re motivated to make the world a better place, in your own unique way.
Aquarius energies are sometimes associated with the unexpected or surprising events, and accidents. So be prepared.
You might also feel a sense of yearning to belong – belong to a community, a group, a humanitarian effort. Look for others with similar interests and bravely join in.
“In this age, the mere example of non-conformity, the mere refusal to bend the knee to custom, is itself a service; and the amount of eccentricity in a society has generally been proportional to the amount of genius, mental vigor, and moral courage which it contained. That so few now dare to be eccentric, marks the chief danger of the time.” ― John Stuart Mill,
Aquarians find it easy to make friends and maintain friendships. This is their modus operandi. But somehow rejection follows them wherever they go. What’s happening here exactly?
How does tolerant, altruistic Aquarius fail to attain the one thing they long for – a sense of belonging with their kin? How do they inevitably seem to end up as a wounded outcast?
Of course, Aquarians are naturally rejected by those who are afraid of change, or anything different. That’s part of it. But there’s another pattern.
They’re so focused on the larger community or future progress, they can be clueless to the hurt they cause loved ones closer to home.
Somehow, neglecting their partner’s need for intimacy, or throwing out insensitive comments to close friends never seems to cross their genius mind as a problem.
The challenge for Aquarius is to channel their global, benevolent energies down to the individual – other kids alone on the playground, or other inferiors ostracized for their eccentricity or conscious awareness.
Focusing on an individual as opposed to the masses might seem like a waste of energy to Aquarius. But the world is made up of individuals; so, investing in them is exactly how global progress is made.
In the old world, society meant the patriarchal master race controls the masses. Waste of planetary resources from corporate greed and heartless factory manufacturing suppress creativity and healthy technology. The unique individual is left out in the cold. Planetary dilemmas grow out of control.
In the Age of Aquarius, however, diverse individuals are viewed with respect rather than as fugitives who must be eliminated to protect the elite, master race.
Rather than blood ties, human connections of conscious awareness is the new tribalism. This is where Aquarius finds their higher sense of belonging.
The lesson for Aquarius is: Find your group on the outskirts of common society by becoming sensitive to the needs of consciously aware individuals, taking time to get to know them, bringing them together, and working in tandem to create a better world.
